Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead field technicians during installations, commissioning, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
  • Serve as the primary customer contact on site
  • Provide professional project updates to customers
  • Lead daily safety meetings
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, customer and company safety requirements
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control system issues
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs and service documentation

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • At least 2 years leading crews preferred

  • Assist with plate heat exchanger disassembly, plate cleaning, gasket replacement, inspection and reassembly
  • Read mechanical drawings and work instructions
  • Complete electronic service reports and photo documentation
  • Maintain professional customer communication
  • Comply with OSHA, LOTO, PPE, JHA and customer safety requirements
  • Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles

The Electrical Controls Engineer will design, implement, troubleshoot and optimize advanced automation and control systems for manufacturing equipment. This position supports new and existing systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives and safety devices while helping deliver projects from concept through installation, start-up and commissioning.

Position Summary

The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining controls specifications for manufacturing equipment and automated systems. This role requires technical expertise in system integration, PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, safety programming, electrical panel layouts and project execution.

You will work closely with mechanical engineers, customers, vendors and internal teams to develop reliable, efficient and safe automation solutions that meet project requirements, customer expectations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment
  • Program PLCs and configure servo drives
  • Develop HMI systems and electrical panel layouts
  • Lead projects by delivering advanced technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conduct project status reviews to ensure alignment with timelines, budgets and customer satisfaction
  • Develop system integration solutions for assembly line automation, motion control and safety programming
  • Maintain accurate documentation for electrical and control system designs, modifications and material lists
  • Partner with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems with machinery
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems to improve efficiency, reliability and safety
  • Participate in project estimation, proposal preparation and business development activities
  • Prepare and evaluate RFQs to vendors
  • Coordinate vendor quotes and manage vendor relationships
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company policies
  • Travel to customer sites for equipment start-up, drive setup, PLC code checkout and system commissioning
  • Travel is estimated at less than 25 percent but may increase based on customer demand

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical controls engineering and manufacturing automation required
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming required
  • Strong proficiency in servo drive programming required
  • HMI development experience required
  • Allen-Bradley experience required
  • Experience with motion control required
  • Experience with safety programming required
  • Experience developing highly automated systems required
  • Robotics experience preferred
  • Expertise in control panel design required
  • Experience with wiring diagrams required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and post-repair checks on various equipment, including jockey trucks, over-the-road trucks, trailers, forklifts, and automobiles.
  • Read job orders and technical service bulletins to determine work procedures for repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine systems to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Inspect, adjust, and repair air brake systems and other safety devices to maintain operational safety standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Align wheels, change tires, and replace or repair vehicle components, including headlights, wipers, seats, and more.
  • Keep detailed service records, documenting parts used, work performed, and hours worked.
  • Test drive repaired vehicles to ensure everything is functioning properly.

Qualifications:

  • Basic experience or knowledge in vehicle maintenance. Diesel and heavy truck experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn—on-the-job training is available for those eager to expand their skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Computer knowledge is a plus.

STS Technical Services is partnering with a leading equipment logistics solutions company to hire experienced Trailer Mechanics in Savannah, Georgia. This is a direct-hire opportunity to join a company that has been in operation since 1946, providing dependable service across the Southeast and central U.S.

Position Summary

As a Trailer Mechanic, you will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostic inspections, and repairs on a variety of trailers to ensure fleet safety and operational efficiency. You will also support minor terminal tractor repairs and complete documentation within the company’s maintenance software system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and repairs on trailers, reporting damage and corrective actions
  • Maintain and service trailer systems including air brakes, suspension, electrical, couplers, landing gear, and more
  • Perform welding repairs in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
  • Assist with minor repairs on terminal tractors as needed
  • Execute test drives to verify functionality after repairs
  • Complete work orders using fleet maintenance software, tracking parts and labor accurately
  • Support team members with additional repair tasks when needed
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience performing trailer diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and compliance requirements in a maintenance facility
  • Ability to weld and perform mechanical repairs independently
  • Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • TWIC card required
  • Forklift operator certification preferred
