Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, Gage R&R, CTQ, SPC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto, and control charts is a plus.
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, paint, and electrical or mechanical assembly processes is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in metal fabrication, painting, welding, or mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Proven experience implementing APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and other core quality engineering tools such as SPC, MSA Gage R&R, and process capability analysis.
  • Strong command of continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen with demonstrated results in reducing defects and improving process capability.

B2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer Jobs

STS Aviation Services is hiring a B2 Licenced Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This role supports advanced depot maintenance operations and requires deep avionics expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong technical leadership within a Part 145 environment.

If you are a CAA or EASA Part 66 B2 Engineer with Boeing 737NG or P8 Poseidon type ratings and extensive depot experience, this is an opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile maintenance programme.

Position Overview

Working alongside Senior Engineers and Production Managers, you will supervise a skilled team of avionics technicians. You will oversee detailed inspections in accordance with PDAMs AMMs, FIMs, and SRMs to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance are maintained.

You will act as the primary point of contact for all avionics-related aspects of the programme, ensuring smooth execution of the depot maintenance schedule and clear communication with stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections in accordance with Boeing aircraft manuals
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory requirements
  • Track adherence to allocated task card hours for avionics maintenance and modifications
  • Identify discrepancies between planned and actual hours and analyse root causes
  • Escalate variations to line managers, planners, and programme stakeholders
  • Recommend process improvements to optimise efficiency and resource allocation
  • Support avionics system testing, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Supervise and mentor junior avionics technicians
  • Coordinate tasks to ensure smooth execution of the depot maintenance programme
  • Provide regular progress updates to Line Managers and escalate technical issues as required

Skills and Experience

  • CAA or EASA Part 66 B2 Licence
  • Type rated on Boeing 737NG and P8 Poseidon
  • Previous P8 Poseidon authorisations
  • Minimum of 10 years aircraft experience
  • Previous depot maintenance experience
  • Inspection experience within depot maintenance environments
  • Excellent knowledge of avionics systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Eligible to work and live in the United Kingdom
  • Subject to UK Security Vetting

Part 145 Training Requirements

  • Initial and continuation Human Factors training
  • Initial and continuation SFAR Phase 1 and Phase 2 training
  • Initial and continuation EWIS Group 1 and Group 2 training, including EWIS Group 1 Module G
  • ETOPS training
  • RVSM training
