STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Interiors Technicians in Melbourne, Florida.

Position Overview:

Performs and execute a variety of tasks including adjusting, assembling, equipping, and testing of interior systems in relation to assembly and repair operations. Work will be performed in accordance with the necessary production documentation while meeting the requirements of quality, functionality, safety, deadlines and recording production data. Analyze processes and process improvement opportunities within the production process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on interior assemblies and subassemblies such as seats, cabinets, panels, partitions, divan, and In-flight entertainment equipment.
  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed while following appropriate clean-as-you go shop practices.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions
  • Follows approved assembly procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Inspects completed work to identify any needed rework before signing off; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests utilizing test equipment specified in technical manuals.
  • Completes work package documentation per FAA and/or repair station manual.
  • Submits completed work to Quality Assurance for final/in progress inspection and certification of airworthiness.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P and mechanical / electrical experience a plus
  • Structures experience a plus.

Experience:

  • Generally 1-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
  • Requiring Basic Skills to perform basic tasks within the Technical Area assigned to in area of responsibility with assembly, mechanical, electrical or aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Assignments require Minimal Knowledge beyond the assigned work.
  • Demonstrates correct understanding of routine aspects of work.
  • Performs basic, less complex and routine Technical Assignments.
  • Assists Journeyman Level or Higher Technicians on moderately complex technical assignments.
  • Proficient in riveting, installation of relate hardware, usage of precision instruments and utilization of hand tools to perform these tasks.
  • Must be able to fabricate parts.
  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examines sample or damaged part or structure to determine repair or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
  • Repair interior components or structure of aircraft according to specifications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Be proficient in the usage of air powered hand tools and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to work different shifts and flexible hours if required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.

Typical parts are brackets, wiring, radiators, axles, air systems, hydraulic steering and lines, air lines, electronic lines, valves, tanks, brackets, linkages, etc.

Daily Duties

  • Cut, fit, bend and adjust parts for fit or function as directed
  • Drill, ream or tap holes for mounting or clearance as directed
  • Measure wire, tubing or hose paths and cut tubing to length as directed
  • Fill batteries and accessory grease points and apply sealants as directed
  • Startup engine, check dashboard instruments for proper function
  • Assemblies weigh up to 10,000 lbs., handle with appropriate equipment, such as cranes, dollies etc. which are provided
  • Install various aftermarket parts and assemblies on truck such as brackets, wiring, hydraulic lines, air lines, etc.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards
  • Ability to follow engineering prints and bill of materials
  • Perform repairs/alterations on vehicles such as drilling holes or modify sheet medal
  • Install various harnesses and batteries
  • Requires the use of simple arithmetic and some measuring instruments such as caliper or scale
  • Diagnose and/or repair problems and provide failure analysis on a follow-up service report on all areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Automotive Field Service and/or Automotive Technical Support areas (extensive mechanical experience)
  • Air conditioning certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience using pneumatic hand tools, drill, and truck parts
  • Ability to read Technical Manuals and blueprints and follow work instructions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally and present a professional appearance during this project assignment
  • Personal protective equipment such as steel toed boots is a contractor requirement.
  • Able to perform multi axle wheel alignment.

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, handbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification with no infractions.
  • Recent A&P experience with turbine-powered aircraft preferred.
  • Experience with commercial and large regional aircraft is a plus.
  • Must own standard line maintenance tools (calibrated & specialty tooling provided).
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and schematics.
  • Experience working in an FAA Part 145 repair station or Part 135 operation preferred.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) license is a plus.
  • Ability to work standing, climb ladders/stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must pass a background check, drug & alcohol test, and obtain U.S. Customs & Border Patrol clearance.
  • Flexibility in scheduling—shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong work ethic, customer service mindset, and commitment to quality and safety.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $31 – $38 per hour (based on experience and training).
  • Part-Time Employees: No benefits included.
