Welcoming Ryan Adamovich to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Ryan Adamovich

Some join our team with extensive experience in staffing. Others come to us with none, and that’s OK. What we look for in a Recruiter doesn’t revolve around experience alone. Sure, we’d love to have it, but sometimes you find a prospective employee who checks every other box that matters; someone who has the “soft skills” hiring managers love and LinkedIn Influencers boast about daily.

When we first me Ryan, he didn’t have any Recruiting experience, but that didn’t stop him from impressing in his interview by showcasing a desire to learn, a kind demeanor, next-level communications skills and everything else it takes to become a great asset for our organization.

Ryan joined our team about two weeks ago, and we realize those working remotely haven’t met him yet, and that’s what this post is all about; to help you get to know Ryan, understand where he comes from and find out a little more about your new teammate and colleague.

With that being said, let’s dive into the Q&A we did with Ryan.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

Before joining STS Technical Services, I worked in higher education for about 10 years. I started off as a college football coach and did that from 2011 until early 2015.  I then started working as a college admissions representative, and that’s what I did before I joined STS.  I have a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Dubuque. My Bachelor’s degree is in Communication where I went to Wisconsin Lutheran College and graduated in 2010.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dog, Moxy. We like to spend time with family.  Football is a huge part of my life.  I currently coach football at Wisconsin Lutheran College, and I continue to play football during the summer.  I am typically participating in something football-related for at least 10 months out of the year.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I don’t know if I could choose one specific superhero, but my wife and I are huge Marvel fans, and we own almost all of the movies. We are also watching all of the recent Marvel series that have been released!

Welcoming Cheng Lee to the STS Technical Services’ Family

I have two daughters. They are the light of my life, but they are also a handful. In my house, there is never any silence and it’s go, go, go from sunup ’til sundown. I love the energy and the beauty they bring to the table, but I am not having anymore children. Two is plenty for me. I am done. Seriously. You couldn’t pay me enough to have another one.

For our newest Technical Recruiter, however, having only two children is a distant memory. In fact, Cheng Lee has six kids all under the age of 11. That’s right… six kids! I don’t know how he and his wife Mai do it, but from what I can tell, they not only make it work, they make it look easy.

Cheng joined our team in Brookfield, Wisconsin about a week ago, and we are really excited to have him on board. And for those who would like to get to know him a little better, take a few minutes to read the Q&A we did. As you will see, Cheng is a terrific guy, a great father and an incredible Recruiter with years of experience and awards under his belt. We are extremely grateful to have him, and we would like to take a moment now to formally welcome him to our family.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I worked in sales at AT&T for about four years. I then moved into a recruiting role at Allegis/Aerotek where I spent three years and was selected as the “Recruiter of the Year” in 2020.

After a conversation with Lisa Homewood, I truly felt that STS Technical Services would be a better fit for me. Here, I felt like I could grow both personally and professionally, and that is why I decided to take the job.

And for those who are curious, I have a Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin Marathon County (recently merged and is now the University of Wisconsin of Stevens Point).

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

My house is like a zoo, and there is always something for me to do when I am not working!

I really enjoy being father. I have an awesome wife, Mai Kia, who supports what I do (at least, I like to think that she does).

As Bryan alluded to above, my wife and I have six awesome kids: Mikaylah (10), Chloe (10), Katie (9), Lily (6), Zayne (5) and lastly, Ethan (1). As you can imagine, they keep me busy.

I enjoy reading any type of book from historical, fiction, non-fiction or anything that has to do with self-development. I also enjoy fishing, playing basketball, football, biking and taking walks with the kids.

Last but not least, I also have two dogs; an American Bully named Doo-Doo and a Terrier named Oliver.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I am torn between Superman and Batman, though Batman may have the edge for me. Either way, I truly believe in humility, humbleness and working hard. I also like to think that I can take a negative situation and turn it into a positive situation while remaining selfless enough to help out humanity even when some individuals may not understand one’s true intention(s).

Welcoming Amanda Gilliam to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Amanda Gilliam

You don’t have to have a background in aviation to thrive in our world. In fact, many who join our staffing team come from industries like marketing, sales, psychology, business development and even social work; to name a few. Our team is unique. Our team is eclectic. Our team is diverse, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

For us, it’s not where you’ve been that matters but where you want to go. And when we first met Amanda Gilliam, we knew right away that she was ambitious, focused and driven to great things. That’s all that really mattered to us, and we hired her on the spot.

Amanda joined STS Technical Services this past week as its newest Program Assistant. She will be working directly with our crew in Oscoda, Michigan, and we are thrilled to have her on board.

For anyone who would like to get to know Amanda a little bit, check out the quick Q&A we did below.

Thanks, for taking the time, everyone.

Amanda, welcome to the team! We are so very grateful to have you.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I am a recent graduate from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in social work. During my time in the social work field, I worked with Department of Health and Human Services in the Foster Care and Child Protective Services Department. I’m new to the aviation world and very excited to learn!

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

If I’m not working, some of the things I do for fun include going on a boat, playing Fortnite with my 7-year-old nephew, going on bike rides, or re-watching The Real Housewives of New York City for the 30th time.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

If I could be any superhero I would be The Toxic Avenger because he found a way to make falling into a barrel of toxic waste while turning into a scary monster a positive thing and a way to help others. I think we could all use a mindset like that (lol).

Welcoming Maggie Artnak to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Maggie Artnak

Not everyone takes a straight path in life, and that’s more than OK. In fact, those who embrace a zig-zag approach often turn out to be far more interesting than those who simply do what’s expected and never veer.

At STS Technical Services, we applaud uniqueness and embrace the journey of living; wherever the road may lead. For somehow, someway, we all end up where we should be, and we are so very glad that Maggie Artnak found her way to us.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

Volleyball is my main hobby. I play in a few leagues currently. I played varsity and club all through high school, club for the University of MN through college, and played for Santa Monica College while I lived in CA. I also enjoy live music, costume/theme events, road trips back to MN, spending time with my family here and around the country, trying new restaurants and breweries, and making improvements on my house.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

This is a tough question but I would probably say Captain Marvel because she is nearly invincible, extremely powerful, and can fly.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I would be Dr. Strange because he protects the earth from mythical and magical creatures. Truthfully, I am not a huge superhero fan, but I do appreciate Marvel over DC Comics.

Here’s the thing. Our newest Technical Recruiter, Jason Fraise, is a great guy. He really is. He works hard, he’s easy to get along with, he’s a great father and he loves sports. What’s not to like, right? At least that’s what I thought until I had the chance to review his new hire Q&A (see below).

Welcoming Tina Malm to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Tina Malm

Have any of you ever seen a movie called “The Hustler?” How about its long-awaited sequel, “The Color of Money?” Both are fantastic films where Paul Newman plays a character by the name of “Fast” Eddie Felson; a pool shark who works his way from billiard room to billiard room ready to empty the pockets of anyone who dares challenge him.

And while both movies are amazing, the story of “Fast Eddie” pals in comparison to the real life story of Tina Malm, our newest Recruiter based out of Severn, Maryland.

You see, Tina is not only an amazing Recruiter, she’s also a professional pool player who is currently ranked Top 25 in the country! With that in mind, if you happen to bump into Tina at a work event, don’t ever challenge her to a game of pool unless you’re willing to lose… and lose big. Tina is shark on the tables, and it’s that same killer mentality that has helped her thrive in her new career with STS Technical Services.

Let’s take a minute to get to know Tina a little bit better, shall we? Check out our quick Q&A below.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I’ve been a Recruiter both on the agency side and the corporate side; most recently for a government contractor in the D.C. area. There, I was in charge of staffing agency relationships and hiring cleared individuals.

I graduated from Penn State with a degree in Organizational Leadership and a minor in Labor & Employment Relations. I also have my PHR (Professional of Human Resources) certification (the hardest final exam I’ve ever taken).

My favorite part of recruiting is extending the offer and really getting to know the candidates with whom I work.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I’ve been lucky to have traveled almost everywhere in the United States playing competitive, professional-level pool (I am currently ranked in the top 25 in the US). I love how the game challenges, delights and frustrates me, and yet it still teaches me so much.

I also love the smell of ocean air, dinner with friends, and movie/home time with my husband and daughter.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

With the ability to heal other people, eradicate plagues and bring people back from the dead, I would choose the Scarlet Witch. None of the negatives attributes she possesses, only the positives, of course! How amazing would it be to bring back Albert Einstein and hear his commentary and opinions about modern scientific progress? How funny would it be to hear George Carlin comment about the political and social occurrences of the last 5 years? Beyond that, being able to heal people and make a difference would be next-level amazing!
