Welcoming Christa Wonser to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Christa Wonser

Christa Wonser is STS Technical Services’ newest Operations Specialist working remotely in Brookfield, Wisconsin. She has spent much of her career working as an Administrative Assistant, and we couldn’t be any more excited to have her on our team.

If you would like to get to know Christa, check out the Q&A we did with her shortly after she was hired.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

Most of my career I’ve spent as an administrative assistant, the most recent was an assistant for the VP of Engineering at a manufacturing company. I’ve also enjoyed time as a CNA and as a cosmetologist. My most recent education path was working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  I have a few classes left to complete.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I work as a volunteer at a local dog rescue that brings up to 90 dogs and puppies and a few cats every 3 weeks. I also love spending time with my 2 grandchildren. I enjoy working in my massive flower beds, fishing and playing with my 2 rescue dogs.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Honestly, I’m not very knowledgeable about superheros, my previous co-workers called me Wonder Woman or WW on many occasions.

Welcoming Becky Hughes to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Becky Hughes

Becky Hughes comes to us with years of professional experience. She joined our team a few week back as its newest Technical Recruiter working RPO for Wacker Neuson in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

If you are interested in getting to know Becky, check out the Q&A we did with her shortly after she was onboarded.

Becky, welcome to the STS Technical Services’ family. We are thrilled to have you!

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I went to school at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and graduated with a degree in Management (HR emphasis.) I’ve had the opportunity to work for a handful of diverse companies in the La Crosse area, spanning a variety of industries (organic foods, healthcare, child care, public accounting, manufacturing and recycling, marine construction, and banking.)

I’ve enjoyed the wide range of responsibilities in the HR field and have had the opportunity to be involved in labor relations/contract negotiation, complex employee relations situations, talent development, succession planning, compensation & benefits, performance management, and onboarding/offboarding. Like for many, the pandemic put life in perspective, and I recognized quite clearly that recruitment and talent acquisition are my preferred areas of concentration within the HR field. I started my career as a Recruiter at Organic Valley, and I hope to focus the rest of my career in talent acquisition as well. What’s more fun and rewarding than offering someone a new job that they’ll love?! 🙂

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

When I’m not working, my life pretty much revolves around my daughters (Marley, a sophomore & Maya, a 7th grader.) I’m not a stereotypical “dance mom,” but most of my evenings consist of driving them to and from dance class and Nutcracker rehearsals! The three of us love to bond over Netflix binges, ice cream, and coffee – just call us the Gilmore Girls. 😉

I love the outdoors – hiking, kayaking, boating, morel mushroom hunting, and exploring. I tend to be cautious by nature, but I do love a good thrill (rollercoasters, skydiving, zip lines, etc.) or hitting the road for a long road trip with a solid soundtrack. In my humble opinion, concerts are underrated, and I can’t wait to hit some more shows post-pandemic! Foo Fighters, Jason Isbell, and Bruce Springsteen are at the top of my list, but I will definitely see Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift, and Garth Brooks again at some point! Otherwise, give me a good book and a hammock or fireplace, and I’ll stay out of your way for hours.

Oh, did I mention I grew up in Rochester, MN, and I’m a faithful Vikings fan?! (They WILL win a Super Bowl before I die!) Skol!

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Hands down, I’d go with She-Ra! She is known for being a positive role model for girls as well as her strength (ability to lift grown men, robots, boulders, and buildings over her head), acrobatics, and speed. Her character is also nurturing and empathetic with an ability to communicate with animals. She is mostly non-violent and engages in combat only as a last resort. Instead, she uses her intelligence and wits to outsmart her enemies – and how much more powerful can you get than that?! 🙂

I have a BA in Communications from University of Iowa where I was a track scholarship for 100M hurdles. I come from a corporate background of working as an executive in Software as a Service where I handled gap analysis and implementations at customer sites all over the U.S. I also have a background in leading paradigm shifts in companies who have made acquisitions and again, doing process improvements by implementing best practices so both parent company and newly acquired company can streamline and improve. My favorite job aside from being a  professional water skier back in the day is owning and running my yoga studio, Soleil Lune Yoga Center, for the last 20 years. It is a gift to be able to watch people transform for the better and improve their lives inside and out.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working? Yoga of course! . I also lead a yoga teacher certification program as well as continuing education credit courses for existing yoga teachers so I enjoy traveling and leading those trainings.

I also like doing anything active and outdoors. Hiking in the mountains, surfing, swimming, biking, and trail running are my favorites. I have 6 kids and 6 grandkids so spending time with them is always a joy and absolute privilege. It is never a dull moment!

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Superhero…that is a great question. I really don’t have any deep longing to be a superhero, but is there one that talks to animals? That would be pretty cool. Being able to read people’s minds would be a superpower I would love to have. I also remember watching a cartoon Super Friends when I was young and there were this brother/sister team called The Wonder Twins or something like that and they could shapeshift into anything and they had a pet monkey named Gleek. That sounds pretty cool, too.

Welcoming Cheng Lee to the STS Technical Services’ Family

I have two daughters. They are the light of my life, but they are also a handful. In my house, there is never any silence and it’s go, go, go from sunup ’til sundown. I love the energy and the beauty they bring to the table, but I am not having anymore children. Two is plenty for me. I am done. Seriously. You couldn’t pay me enough to have another one.

For our newest Technical Recruiter, however, having only two children is a distant memory. In fact, Cheng Lee has six kids all under the age of 11. That’s right… six kids! I don’t know how he and his wife Mai do it, but from what I can tell, they not only make it work, they make it look easy.

Cheng joined our team in Brookfield, Wisconsin about a week ago, and we are really excited to have him on board. And for those who would like to get to know him a little better, take a few minutes to read the Q&A we did. As you will see, Cheng is a terrific guy, a great father and an incredible Recruiter with years of experience and awards under his belt. We are extremely grateful to have him, and we would like to take a moment now to formally welcome him to our family.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I worked in sales at AT&T for about four years. I then moved into a recruiting role at Allegis/Aerotek where I spent three years and was selected as the “Recruiter of the Year” in 2020.

After a conversation with Lisa Homewood, I truly felt that STS Technical Services would be a better fit for me. Here, I felt like I could grow both personally and professionally, and that is why I decided to take the job.

And for those who are curious, I have a Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin Marathon County (recently merged and is now the University of Wisconsin of Stevens Point).

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

My house is like a zoo, and there is always something for me to do when I am not working!

I really enjoy being father. I have an awesome wife, Mai Kia, who supports what I do (at least, I like to think that she does).

As Bryan alluded to above, my wife and I have six awesome kids: Mikaylah (10), Chloe (10), Katie (9), Lily (6), Zayne (5) and lastly, Ethan (1). As you can imagine, they keep me busy.

I enjoy reading any type of book from historical, fiction, non-fiction or anything that has to do with self-development. I also enjoy fishing, playing basketball, football, biking and taking walks with the kids.

Last but not least, I also have two dogs; an American Bully named Doo-Doo and a Terrier named Oliver.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I am torn between Superman and Batman, though Batman may have the edge for me. Either way, I truly believe in humility, humbleness and working hard. I also like to think that I can take a negative situation and turn it into a positive situation while remaining selfless enough to help out humanity even when some individuals may not understand one’s true intention(s).

Welcoming Amanda Gilliam to the STS Technical Services’ Family

Amanda Gilliam

You don’t have to have a background in aviation to thrive in our world. In fact, many who join our staffing team come from industries like marketing, sales, psychology, business development and even social work; to name a few. Our team is unique. Our team is eclectic. Our team is diverse, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

For us, it’s not where you’ve been that matters but where you want to go. And when we first met Amanda Gilliam, we knew right away that she was ambitious, focused and driven to great things. That’s all that really mattered to us, and we hired her on the spot.

Amanda joined STS Technical Services this past week as its newest Program Assistant. She will be working directly with our crew in Oscoda, Michigan, and we are thrilled to have her on board.

For anyone who would like to get to know Amanda a little bit, check out the quick Q&A we did below.

Thanks, for taking the time, everyone.

Amanda, welcome to the team! We are so very grateful to have you.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I am a recent graduate from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in social work. During my time in the social work field, I worked with Department of Health and Human Services in the Foster Care and Child Protective Services Department. I’m new to the aviation world and very excited to learn!

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

If I’m not working, some of the things I do for fun include going on a boat, playing Fortnite with my 7-year-old nephew, going on bike rides, or re-watching The Real Housewives of New York City for the 30th time.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

If I could be any superhero I would be The Toxic Avenger because he found a way to make falling into a barrel of toxic waste while turning into a scary monster a positive thing and a way to help others. I think we could all use a mindset like that (lol).
