Welcoming Erin Gabrielson to the STS Technical Services Family

Erin Gabrielson (1)

As an organization, when you are able to find, hire and onboard a rockstar employee, someone with years of experience and expertise in their field, that’s cause for celebration.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest entry in our “Meet the Team” series. Today, we would like to introduce you to Erin Gabrielson. Erin a rockstar employee who just joined our team as it’s newest Technical Recruiter based out of Garden City, Michigan. What makes Erin a rockstar, you ask? That’s a fair question. How about 20 years of recruiting experience, mad leadership skills and technical acumen that is truly second to none. But don’t take our word for it. Let’s hear from Erin herself, shall we?

In order to flush out this post, we asked Erin three questions, and her responses to each are listed below.

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I have 20 years of experience working in human resources and talent acquisition in the oil and gas, aerospace, automotive and manufacturing industries. I have worked in a corporate setting, and I have also owned and operated my own recruitment agency for six years while living in Houston, Texas. I have an extensive background in HRIS and IT software for global implementations, and I am currently pursuing Master’s Degree in Information Technology from Walsh College. I have Bachelor’s Degree already in International Business from Michigan State University, and I am also AIRS certified.

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

Training and lifting weights! I am also a foodie who loves to cook and execute meal prep. I’m a huge outdoor adventurist; someone who loves boating on Lake Erie, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling… you name it. I’m actively involved in a  women’s group at my church as well as a variety of community action groups.  I am also running for Precinct Delegate for the 13th District of Michigan where my name will be on the county voter ballot in August 2022.  Oh, and I love to travel as well.

My husband’s family is from Oscoda, Michigan, and they have owned and operated a restaurant / bakery there for 45 years.  Knowing that, my family and I are always up north on the water helping out our relatives.

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I would be Aqua Girl.  I love the water, and I love marine life. I tend to rescue dogs, too, so I would probably help save marine life from destruction.

Welcoming Amber Mallak Back to the STS Technical Services Team

Amber Mallak

When Amber left our organization early in 2020 due to COVID-19 cutbacks, there was a void in our recruiting department. We had not only lost one of our best workers, we lost a friend… someone we could count on to come in every morning with a smile, a winning attitude and a helpful disposition.

Today, it gives us great pleasure to announce that Amber Mallak has returned to the STS Technical Services team! Moving forward, she will be one of our top Recruiters at our Oscoda, Michigan office; a center that helps our amazing client, Kalitta Air, thrive in an ever changing industry.

And while Amber’s primary recruiting focus will be to service Kalitta Air, we will lean on her expertise and knowledge to work with clients across the country. Amber has years of Recruiting experience, and her understanding of what it takes for Mechanics and Engineers to thrive in the aircraft maintenance industry is unmatched.

OK, now that we have a bit of background, let’s dive into the heart of this “Meet the Team” blog post. If this is your first time with us, just know that his series was created by our marketing department to help our colleagues, clients and friends get to know the new and / or returning faces of STS Technical Services a little better. To that end, we asked Amber three questions, and her responses are below. Enjoy, and please join us in welcoming Amber Mallak back to the STS Technical Services’ team!

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I am 100% a Michigan Girl, I love my hometown and all of the natural resources that I get to enjoy around the year! I married my best friend and high school sweetheart, Kevin. Together we have our son Colton, who is busy keeping us on our toes all the time, and our dog Sady.

I Studied General Sciences at my local Community College and previously worked at STS Technical Services; starting out as a Recruiting Coordinator and transitioning into a Recruiter. I am overjoyed to be back on the STS team!

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

So when I said I enjoy the Natural Resources that my home offers, I wasn’t joking! I love being outdoors and living near the water. Summers here are beautiful! We have one of the best beaches in the state, so I love to spend as much time as I can there or on the Ausable River. I enjoy fishing with my husband, boating with the family, kayaking, and camping! In the winter, I love to get out and go ice fishing.

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Wonder Woman because she believes in love. She is one of the most compassionate and loving superheroes and tries to do what is best for mankind.

Welcoming Jami Drexler to the STS Technical Services Team

Jami Drexler (2)

As our team continues to grow, we would like to take a moment and introduce you to Jami Drexler, our newest Recruiter in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Jami is just getting started on her second week, and since most of our team is still working remotely, we thought this post would be a cool way for you to get to know Jami a little bit better. To that end, we asked her three questions, and the responses she was kind enough to share are highlighted below.

If you have any additional questions for Jami, or maybe you just want to say hello, feel free to click the animated .gif above. Doing so will redirect you to Jami’s LinkedIn profile.

OK, that just about does it. Thanks so much for taking the time today, and please join us as we welcome Jami Drexler to the STS Technical Services’ family!

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I have been in technical recruiting for six (6) years. I started working for an IT firm and then went to work remotely for Monster.com.

Throughout my professional career, I have supported contract, contract-hire and direct hire roles throughout the United States and Canada.

I am experienced in full life-cycle recruiting, client management and working with offshore teams. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two little shih-tzu mixes and my family.

I am from Germantown, Wisconsin but have lived in Florida and Texas. My dogs are my little babies, and I take them everywhere with me and they are always right by my side while working from home.

I love being outdoors camping, taking road trips, hiking all over the U.S. and doing Bikram Yoga. My husband and I eloped because of COVID, and we are really looking forward to planning a family wedding as soon as we get our vaccinations and following that ceremony up with a proper honeymoon once it’s safe again to travel outside the country.

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

If I could be any superhero, I would want to be Superman. Why? That’s easy… so I can fly!

Welcoming Nadalia Haita to the STS Technical Services Team

Meet Nadalia (1)

Finding the “right” employee isn’t always easy… even as one of the top 100 staffing firms in the country. But when we interviewed Nadalia Haita for an open Technical Recruiter position at our headquarter office in Brookfield, Wisconsin, the process couldn’t have gone smoother.

From the moment we reviewed her resume to the moment we offered her the position, Nadalia seemed to check all of the boxes. She’s smart, educated, experienced, fun to be around, honest and hardworking. And if those attributes don’t make for the perfect hire, we’re not really sure what does.

Nadalia’s first day with STS Technical Services was this past Monday, February 15, 2021. And since much of our team is still working remotely, they haven’t had the chance to meet Nadalia formally, so we decided to ask her three questions and share those responses inside of this post; our fourth in the “Meet the Team” series that we kicked off a few short weeks ago.

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I graduated in December of 2020 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Psychology. I have roughly two years of recruiting and human resources experience working for smaller companies, so I am really excited to be a part of the STS Technical Services’ family where I hope to expand my skill set.

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I love being outdoors! Specifically, I love to go camping, hiking, boating, snowboarding… really, anything outside makes me happy. I also have two dogs that keep me plenty busy; a golden retriever puppy and a husky/malamute (pictured above).

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Honestly, I would probably be Spider Man because I could shoot my webs off to grab stuff when I am too lazy. Sometimes, I act like I am shooting my webs off at home, but then my boyfriend just laughs, shakes his head, and goes to get it for me (lol).

Welcoming Megan Shelton to the STS Technical Services Team

Megan Shelton (1)

This is now the third installment in our “Meet the Team” series. At first, our marketing team was excited to take on this project, but after penning three articles in 90 minutes, we wouldn’t be shocked if they were trying to unionize.

All jokes aside, let’s take a minute to get to know Megan Shelton, our newest Recruiter in Oscoda, Michigan. Megan is rockstar both in and out of the office. While at work, she’s dependable, eager to learn and a joy to be around. When she’s home, she proudly raises four amazing children whose ages range from 19 to 4.

Get to Know Megan

We already know that Megan is our newest Recruiter and the supermom of four, but let’s learn a little more,  shall we? Check out the three questions we asked her to answer for this article.

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

My previous work experience includes working as a Licensed Insurance Representative for State Farm. There, I worked for a couple of Agents in the Flint, MI area named Jake (just kidding).  Before that, I was a Business Development Coordinator for a commercial flooring manufacturer.  I attended college at the University of Michigan – Flint campus and studied early childhood education. When I was little and was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was “a Secretary!”  I love working in the office environment and being part of a team.

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I am the mom of a nine-year-old boy in 4th grade and I also have 3 bonus kids, ages 19, 13, and 4.  Our kids are involved in a lot of sports, so we attend their practices and games in abundance!  We love to have family dinners and make good food.  In the summer, we spend most of our time at, or on, the water.  I am an avid rock hunter and have a little bit of a green thumb.  I also love to read and play online solitaire!

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I am not very knowledgeable on superheroes, but I think I would choose Storm from X-Men.  She can control the weather!  That way I could make every day in NE Michigan beach weather!

Welcoming Kimberley Ayres Back to the STS Technical Services Team

Welcome Kimberley Ayres

This is the second installment in our “Meet the Team” series. In the first installment, published just a few short minutes ago, we introduced you to Brittany Keathley, the newest Recruiting Sourcer for STS Technical Services in Oscoda, Michigan.  In this piece, we would like to welcome back Kimberley Ayres! Kim was with us for two years before being let go due to COVID cutbacks, and we are thrilled that she was available, when the time came, to rejoin the STS Technical Services’ family. Kim, you’ve been missed!

Meet Kimberly

Kimberley rejoined the STS Technical Services’ team as a Recruiter in Oscoda, Michigan earlier this week. And already having worked with us for two years, we didn’t have to show her the ropes. In fact, she’s probably forgotten more about recruiting than half of us currently know, so we’ll just sit back and let her do her thing. Seriously. You should see Kimberley in action. When she’s dialed into a task, there’s no stopping her!

Now in an effort to help you all get to know Kimberley a little better, we asked her three question. Those questions, and her answers, are offered below.

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I worked in customer service in a call center for three years and was promoted to Supervisor of Quality & Training. I stayed as a Supervisor there for another three years before leaving to work at STS Technical Services (the first time) as a Recruiter. I spend two years with STS before being laid off due to COVID this past April. Today, however, that I am finally back doing what I love, and I couldn’t be more excited about that.

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

Mainly, I spend time with my son and dog. We like to go on trips and being outside in the summertime is our favorite. In fact, we spend a lot of time at the beach or camping… things like that.

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

Can it be an X-man? If so it would be Jean Gray. Because she can do everything.

Welcoming Brittany Keathley to the STS Technical Services Team

Welcome Brittany Keathley (1)

Given the fact that many of our employees are still working remotely, we wanted to come up with a cool way to introduce the newest members of our team to their colleagues. Sure, a Microsoft Teams call could’ve done the trick, but then our marketing people would have feel left out, and that’s not cool. We love our marketing people, and because they are at their happiest while being creative, we asked the crew to pen this little quarantine masterpiece and share it with the world.

Kitty Cuteness (Just For a Minute)

Hello, everyone. Meet Brittany Keathley and her adorable (judging by the back of its head) cat, Tigger. And while we would love to tell you more about the adventures Brittany and Tigger share while not at work, this is neither the time nor place for such foolishness. You will just have to get over the kitty cuteness and move on. Sorry, Tigger. Next time, buddy.

Meet Brittany

Brittany joined the STS Technical Services’ team as a Recruiting Sourcer in Oscoda, Michigan earlier this week. And while she’s probably wondering where the time went these past few days, because we all know time flies when you’re having fun, we feel like we’ve known Brittany for years (lol, just kidding). In all seriousness, getting to spend time with Brittany this week has been a delight, and our entire team in Michigan is excited to have her. In addition to sporting a wonderful personality, Brittany works hard, asks the right questions and is quick to offer her support. As far as we are concerned, her first week has been brilliant.

Now in an effort to help you all get to know Brittany a little better, we asked her three question. Those questions, and her answers, are offered below.

Question 1: Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I received my associate’s degree from Baker College in 2018. I was studying Medical Administration. I have worked in the medical field for about three years and did enjoy it, but I have also worked in customer service as a waitress.

Questions 2: What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

I like to be outside doing different things. I like to hang with my family and friends and relax with my cat Tigger (Tigger’s a good boy).

Question 3: If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I would be Gamora. I chose her because she is out for justice and she is tough to get to know at first but she sees the good in others.
